What is the author's purpose for writing the book you are reading? How do you know? Also, is there a secondary purpose?

The purpose is to entertain because it is telling about witches and the flames did not burn her up.There is no secondary purpose in this story. It is about who the kids came and lived with the lady and they all were artest and they kind of did jobs to stay there like did chores scare away a crow they all made food art.

  2. Long Shot for Paul

The Author's Purpose for writing Long Shot for Paul is to entertain. I think this because it tells about a special needs kid named Paul who wants to join his school basketball team. His coach lets him but the teammates don't like his decision.

  4. A guide to the other side

This book is about a boy named Baylor who can see and talk to ghosts. His twin sister Kristina is dead, and since she is a ghost he can talk to her. He delivers messages from ghosts to living people. Then Kristina gets kidnapped and Baylor has to find her.

I think the author's purpose for this book is to entertain because the book is fiction. I know this because some of the things in the book could never really happen. Also it is entertaining and tells the story of the Baylor's life. There is no secondary purpose.

  5. Tooth trouble
Tooth trouble is about a boy named Freddy and he never loses his tooth he is the only one in his class that have not lost a tooth. The author's purpose for writing this book was to not worry if you don't lose a tooth because it comes out at different times and it will come out one day.

  7. Boys are Dogs

This book is about a girl named Annabelle and she moved to a new town at a new school. Her mom has a boyfriend that she and her old friends call "Dweeble." Her mom and soon to be dad get her a puppy to bribe her into liking the new place. She actually likes the puppy, but she doesn't want her parents to know she can be bribed. Also, Annabelle got a new dog training book with her puppy. Her parents named the puppy Stripe, but Annabelle renamed it Pepper. Moreover, Annabelle meets a girl across the street named Rachel. She is very nice and goes to the new school with Annabelle. Rachel has friends that Annabelle becomes friends with. Her life seems good, but the boys at her school are acting crazy. Annabelle thinks she can train the boys at her school the same way she can train her dog. Will she succeed?

I think the author's purpose is to entertain because this book is realistic fiction. The author isn't trying to inform with facts. The author isn't trying to persuade by getting you to do something. I think the secondary purpose could be express because the author may want you to feel bad for Annabelle. Overall, this book is great and you should read it!!!

I also think it is to inform because it is trying to inform us about running track and how hard to could be to race against other older people. I think that it is to inform and to entertain for many reasons.

This book is about a family going to alaska trying to find the snowman dude. The author's main purpose is to entertain because it has no facts and it's not trying to make you go to alaska and try to find a snowman that's like 20 feet.

  17. Im reading a book called the candymakers. It is about kids who sometimes work at a candy factory and sometimes leave, when they leave the candy factory the group of kids do very dangerous things. I think the author's purpose is to entertain because the book always makes me laugh. Also the book wouldn't have a secondary purpose because the book is about made up kids and there is no facts given in the book. Also it isn't trying to make you do something, it is just trying to make you laugh because of the things the kids do in the book.
